Course Placement for Spring 2027

If you want to take Math 110, 112, 213, or 221 in the spring of 2027 you will need to satisfy a prerequisite. There are generally two ways to do that: either pass certain courses, or . If you have the course prerequisite for the course you want, you can register normally. This information is about the placement questionnaire.

If you can’t register for one of the above math courses because of a missing prerequisite, then you need to fill out the placement questionnaire. This is an online questionnaire that asks about your background in and confidence with math. It should take around 5 or 10 minutes to complete. Once you submit the questionnaire, someone in the Math Department will review it and either issue you a permit to register for the course you want, or contact you with recommendations for a prerequisite you should take first.

Please fill out the questionnaire at least 2 days before you plan to register, to ensure that you get your permit in time. If the permit doesn’t arrive before your registration period begins, you’ll need to wait for it before you can register for your math course, but you can go ahead with the rest of registration while you wait.
